The Mothers’ Union.

The Mothers’ Union at St Wilfrid’s was formed in 2006. We meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month in the Church.  At the end of 2023 we had 32 members.   Everyone is welcome.

Our meetings consist of a short service, a talk or discussion (on many and varied subjects) and finish with a time for socializing. Any volunteers or suggestions for our talks will always be welcome.

The Branch contact is Yvonne Severein-Davies.   Contact Yvonne on 07889 718275 for any information.

THE AIM of the Mothers’ Union is the advancement of Christian religion in the sphere of marriage and family life and is achieved by following our aims and objects.

  1. To uphold Christ’s teaching on the nature of marriage and to promote its wider understanding.
  2. To encourage parents to bring up their children in the faith and life of the Church.
  3. To maintain a world-wide fellowship of Christians united in prayer, worship and service.
  4. To promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life and the protection of children.
  5. To help those whose family life has met with adversity.

THE PURPOSE of the Mothers’ Union is to be especially concerned with all that strengthens and preserves marriage and Christian family life.

Wednesday Morning Coffee Group

Our Coffee Group was started in October 2000 and has been running continuously ever since. Every Wednesday Morning from 10 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. two members of the Group run the Coffee Morning for everyone to join in.

In the Church they provide a warm welcome with, for a small charge, tea or coffee and scones.

In this small way we have been able to provide help with the funds greatly needed to keep our Church beautiful for future generations.

The Flower Club

The Flower Club is responsible for all the floral displays throughout the Church and we always make a special effort for important dates in the Church calendar.

The Flower Club contact is Jenny Sykes who will be very happy to tell anyone about our “in memory” flower scheme.
